Creative Music without Using Any Instrument At All

Hi,

I believe you would agree with me that creativity comes in all forms, all sizes, all shapes and sort of deliveries. Kindly allow me to elaborate further.

While I was in Ho Chih Minh City in Vietnam a couple years ago, I noticed a lady playing an old Chinese guitar. And the funny thing is that, that guitar has only one string. But the amazing thing is that she played beautiful music. You can watch it here

Then not so long ago when Money Tree celebrated the achievement of a group of young achievers at a Red Carpet Party. I saw another amazing creativity in action. Shawn Lee, a 17 years old young entertainer performed Beat Boxing. This is the first time I am exposed to beat boxing. Boy,... am I thrilled. Shawn had it so natural. He made music without having any instrument at all! Take a look here.

I was bewildered that night. Went home and check out Wikipedia and You tube right away and found out that beat boxing has already in existence for about a decade. It has entertained millions of youth worldwide.

By the way, Shawn is number 9th in the world ranking in beat boxing. Congratulation Shawn. And incidentally Shawna is also a graduate of the Money Tree program.

Hope you have enjoyed this new innovative music like I do.

Crocodile Bujang Jahat

Once upon a time, deep in the Sarawak jungle in Malaysia, there lived a happy lot of animals. There were orangutans, tigers, elephants, tapirs, squirrels, deer and birds. Of course there were many other animals too, especially those commonly found in the rain forest. There they lived happily and food was abundant. There was so much food that they did not have to fight, except for one bad crocodile. He caused many problems for the other animals.

This bad crocodile is called Bujang Jahat. He is such a bad crocodile, he never brush his teeth and had bad breath. His mouth is so big he could eat all the smaller animals in the jungle. Bujang Jahat is also a notorious crocodile and behaved like a gangster on the riverbank.

One fine day, while all the other animals were happily going about playing in the jungle, Bujang Jahat sneaked along the riverbank and attacked a herd of deer that were there to drink water. The sudden attack caused the deer to panic and they were seen running for their lives. However, Bujang Jahat who was speedy and fierce caught one deer. He dragged the deer down to the bottom of the river.

The deer drowned and soon died. Bujang Jahat then buried him at the bottom of the river. Preys were in abundance and easy to catch, Bujang Jahat became greedy. He continued to hunt every other day. He terrorized all the animals that came to drink at the riverbank. Soon the entire river-bed was filled with dead animals. And all other surviving animals were too frightened to go near the river.

Bujang Jahat became arrogant with his success. He boasted to another group of crocodiles living on the other side of the jungle, “I am the most fearsome crocodile in the jungle. In fact, I am the most fearsome crocodile in the whole wide world. I have done so much hunting, that I have enough food for all my wives and children for one year. I am getting bored and I think I am going to kill the rest of the animals in the jungle. Let there be only crocodiles left in the animal kingdom,” he said to his friends.

These words got around the entire jungle. That struck fear in all the animals that were smaller than Bujang Jahat. None dared to get close to the river. Some even preferred to die of thirst rather than to be killed by Bujang Jahat.

The killing continued and soon Pak Cerdik, the head of the monkey sought help from Abang Sabah, the chief of orangutan up in his tree house.

We’ve got to do something about this bad crocodile said Pak Cerdik to Abang Sabah.

Yes, you’re right, Pak Cerdik. But what can we do? Bujang Jahat is so big and strong. The smaller animals are weaker than him. And to make thing worst, the larger animals can’t swim said Abang Sabah.

The discussion ended without any solution to this problem.

Bujang Jahat continued to do his killing along the river. His teeth got sharper and sharper. His killing instincts became better and better. He has gone further down the river and did more and more killing everyday. And he got so swollen headed that he didn’t care about what he kills. Be it smaller or bigger than him. He continued to kill all the animals that came to drink at the river.

In one of his killing feasts, he caught a baby rhinoceros and took him down the river. Not happy with that small catch, he struck the mother rhino and dragged her down too.

This has got to stop shouted Hang Garang, said the tiger king to the hundreds of other animals in an open meeting.

But how asked a tiny Rabbit?

The plan is this, the larger animals will gather at the river bend at noon and attack Bujang Jahat tomorrow

The story is rather long to be posted here. For those of you who wished to have the full story, you can write to me at bugstan@gamil.com

Malaysian Young Inventors

These 3 young inventors have created a Two way Window that could be opened like a door. This is useful especially in the case of fire. This window could be used as an escape route.

This Shoe Dryer is a creation of the students from SMK Pangkal Meleret, Kelantan. Good for children to dry their shoes during raining season. This has the potential to become a hot product.

This is a Rotating Lemang Machine. It has a handle to crank a sprocket which turns the lemang in circle through a bicycle chain. Now you get even fire for your lemang. Great idea yea...

This clever invention of a Modular Lego Power Socket is created by students from UCSI. You can add as many power socket as you like. Just like the way you play Lego blocks.

Opening durian will never be troublesome anymore with this simple Durian Opener. It is a pliers that has a nil to poke into the butt of the durian fruit. You slit open the durian by having the 2 pieces of metal pushing the durian apart as you grip the handle the same way you grip a pliers. So simple...

A Vibrating Bra. This young scientist has thought of a way to give mum's breast a massage. He has connected 3 pieces of small vibrators to a hand held air pump. This provide the breast some demunitive message. So that by the time when mum goes home from work, her breast will be able to produce milk for her baby.

Young inventor Hafiz (left) and his co-inventor Azuwad (right) have created an award wining invention of the Multi Purpose Drain Cleaner (MDC). It has a powerful pressure pump in-coporated to this machine that provide the necessary wash on the drain. It is also in-coporated with a 3-way steel brush to remove stubborn stains.

This country has creative young talents. I've seen quite a fair bit of them and I am convinced we have what it takes to become a developed nation in the near future. We just need to go out and assist them.

I hope you enjoy this posting and if you have seen any creative inventions created by young children, please do share with us.

Best regards,
Bugs Tan

Nurturing Children to be Inventive

Dear All,

I've been signing the song every kid is born creative but parent and teachers must recognize this.

The above are some photos of parents and teachers who have been singing along with me. They have actually invested time and effort in their respective children. As you can see, the results are great.

There is no special formula required. All the children need is some guidance from you. You only need to encourage them to take part in some competition and assist them in whatever inventive ideas they have.

It's the same all over the world. This is the method used.

I hope you will give it a shot.

Bugs Tan
